3rd Annual Duck Derby Helps Keep Families Close to the Care They Need!

Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Central Illinois (RMHCCI) will host its 3rd annual Ducky Derby this Labor Day, Monday, September 2, 2019, from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. Presented by HSHS St. John’s Children’s Hospital and hosted at Knight’s Action Park, 1700 Knights Recreation Dr., Springfield, IL. All funds raised through donations, sponsorships and duck number purchases will go towards supporting families served at the Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Central Illinois. Ducks will swim rain or shine! Gates open at 10:00 a.m.

The free event starts off with a Celebrity Ducky Derby at 10:45 a.m. Come watch as local politicians, servicemen/women, radio and news personalities, and various community leaders race their giant rubber ducks through a portion of the Wild River. The community Ducky Derby will take place after that at 11 a.m. where thousands of ducks are expected to be launched into Wild River. The race will last approximately 10 minutes, with the winners announced at 11:30 a.m.

First place in the Ducky Derby receives $2,500 cash. Second place receives a half-steer of Bunn Family Farms beef ($1,300 value). Third place receives a $1,000 County Market gift card. Plus, those that purchase their ducky numbers before August 23, will be entered into a drawing to win a $250 Visa gift card – an early incentive prize! Winners will be contacted immediately after the race and need not be present to win.

Single ducks can be purchased for $5 each at our website. Sponsor packages, ranging from $25 to $5,000, can also be purchased here. Participants can also download the Duck Derby entry flyer and mail their registration and money to the Springfield Ronald McDonald House® at: RMHCCI, 610 N. 7th St., Springfield, IL 62702. Ducks will be available to purchase at the Derby until 11:00 a.m as well.
