Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Central Illinois Asks for Catered Meal Donations

4/22/2020 RMHC Central Illinois

RMHCCI is still accepting donations for catered meals during COVID-19 quarantine.

Catered Meal Donations

The Peoria and Springfield Houses are asking for catered meal donations. The non-profit organization provides meals and free lodging to families with children receiving medical treatment (both in and outpatient) at Peoria and Springfield area hospitals. Much of this is accomplished through the help of local volunteers. However, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the volunteer program is no longer a safe option, as social distancing remains essential.

That’s why the Central Illinois Chapter is asking community members to donate catered meals from local restaurants.

How to Help

The nonprofit is asking Peoria and Springfield community members to call the respective House directly to select a meal donation time slot. More information regarding available dates can be found on the website. Brunch and dinner meals are needed. Simply let the House know which restaurant you selected and have the catering delivered in packages to the location during the selected date and time. Once the meals are delivered, staff will take care of the set up and take down, which is the safest option to help minimize person-to-person contact. The meals will feed families staying at the Houses, providing much needed relief during a time when it’s needed most.

Helping Local Businesses

This could be an opportunity to help local businesses as well. With the closure of all restaurants dining rooms, as a measure to fight the COVID-19 outbreak, your donation can also support local restaurant owners during this challenging time.

Cash donations are also accepted directly on the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Illinois website. These donations help meet the most urgent needs of both Houses. These donations are tax deductible as allowed by law. For more ideas on how you can make a difference for families, contact Kendyl Wear at 217-528-3314 x 148 or kw@rmhc-centralillinois.org.
