The Board of Directors of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Illinois (RMHCCI) has announced an upcoming leadership change for their non-profit organization which spans 29 counties across central Illinois. CEO Kelly Thompson has given notice of resignation as she will be relocating in conjunction with her daughter’s transition to college this summer.

After over nine years of service to the charity, the RMHCCI board members, staff, and volunteers wish Thompson well in her future endeavors and thank her for her steadfast dedication to the job which saw growth and expansion under her leadership. During her tenure, Thompson oversaw the development of programs in both the Springfield and Peoria areas. In addition to renovating the Springfield RMH to its current 14 bedrooms in 2014, she also supervised the build of a new, 22-bedroom RMH in Peoria, Illinois which opened in December of 2019. This new facility is expected to serve over 700 families annually, thus doubling the impact of the charity throughout the region.
“Kelly’s legacy at RMHCCI will continue to reach families across our region even after her departure, and we will be forever grateful for her leadership. Her guidance allowed us to remain mission-focused in expanding our core programs during her time with our charity, and she will be greatly missed. Our charity has a strong base of support from our staff, Board of Directors, volunteers, and community partners, and I expect this transition to occur smoothly without any interruption to our mission,” noted Board Chair Melissa Skinner-Liberman.
